Background Check Podcast
After five DWI’s landed me prison, something had to change. One day I got into a fight and I spent eight days in solitaire confinement thinking about my life and the decisions I had made that led me to that dark place, literally. I came out of the hole a different man with a different heart, mind, soul, direction, and outlook on life. I got mentored by a couple of inmates who eventually made parole but within a year they were both back in. This confused me and ticked me off. I wondered how I was going to make it out there. Since my release in 2006 we’ve opened up a transitional house for men, with another ”ranch” coming, launched a documentary, been on the Mike Huckabee Show, launched this podcast, and it goes into prisons all over the nation.

Well, God answered his question and now he’s living his best life for himself and others. . On this episode we follow Art through his successful life before prison, to his preparation for trial that lasted 6 years, to his sentencing. He talks about how shocked he and his wife were to get a guilty sentence. While in prison, Art helped other men rise above their environment to achieve great things. He also began writing a curriculum to help people understand what they can expect coming into prison and when they get out. . He was the pastor of our inmate-led church. He started it with a handful of men on the rec yard and finally they gave him a classroom due to the gathering on the rec yard. . When he made parole he handed the preaching duties over to me but I quickly asked others to preach too. Since he’s been out, he’s gotten married, found so much favor in his career, and started Right On Point Ministries which has a huge impact on the Kingdom of God.
